TROWBRIDGE LIONS CLUB

Fundraising Committee Activities

WE RAISE MONEY IN THREE WAYS:

1. Public Donations from the People of Trowbridge:
* In December our Christmas Float tours the town for 15 days knocking on doors, bringing Santa to thousands of houses.
* Collecting outside Tesco supermarket.
* Direct donations from individuals.

2. Our Fundraising Events

* A Swimarathon in early spring, held at Clarendon Sports Centre allowing teams to raise money for their own clubs and good causes. This event requires a lot of organisation but is great fun and raises thousands of pounds.
* A 10 K Run in April around Southwick Country Park. Organised alongside Avon Valley Runners this event last year attracted over 150 runners and resulted in a substantial donation to Bath Unit Cancer Support Group. Runners of all abilities are welcome and can use the event to raise money for their own good causes.
* We organise the Spring Fayre in Fore Street on behalf of the Town Council. The Fayre opens with traditional May-Pole dancing and local organisations provide stalls to sell their wares and raise money. The day is supported with various entertainment activities.
* With our Giant Bottle Stall at the West Wilts and Spotlight on Trowbridge Shows. Bottles are donated by Trowbridge people and used in our hugely successful 'everyone a winner' numbers game.
* A Tug of War - new next year

3. Our Association and Company Supporters
* Several Trusts within Trowbridge allocate funds to us that we distribute on their behalf for specific activities such as our Caravan Holidays and Christmas Food Vouchers.
* Companies sponsor our events such as the Swimarathon, 10k Run, Community Service Shield, May Fayre. Without this support it would be difficult to run these events.
